The Moon belongs to?

As far as we know the USA, is the only country ever to have reached the moon, so does this mean that they own it? Well this very delicate subject it has been nearly forty years since the first men stepped on the moon and with increased interest in lunar projects does actually own the moon.

At the moment there are craft from China, Japan and India looking as if they are getting closer to making that leap for mankind, which will see the first lunar base built and occupied.

There is also the Lunar X prize offered by search engine giant Google, this is for a team to send robot to the moon, make it travel five hundred metres and send back video, images and other data back to earth. The first team to do this will receive £20 million.

There is no legal precedent to go on; therefore, any decision will be a landmark one.
